About
Melanie Araujo-Lawrence Kelemen, M Ed., BCBA
I first began working within the autism community in 2008. After I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the University of British Columbia, I spent several years working at a non-profit organization where I had the opportunity to be involved in both home and community-based ABA services, including running an integrated classroom for preschoolers with and without autism. Following this enriching experience, I returned to UBC for my Masters in Special Education with a focus in Autism and Development Disabilities and commenced my formal BCBA supervision; upon completion, I earned my certification as a Behaviour Analyst.
My experience includes working with neurodivergent children aged 1 to 14 years old, as part of home-based teams, in community settings (preschool, recreation and leisure programs, school) and through parent coaching and social groups. My approach is to work with families to find the best way to support their child’s growth and maximize their learning potential in a positive and welcoming environment that is rooted in science.
Every child and family is different, with unique strengths and goals; my role is to collaborate with families and other team members to create plans of action that are data driven and take into account these individual differences in order to achieve each family’s goals.
I am a Registered Autism Service Provider in British Columbia and you can find me on the RASP list. I currently reside in Surrey with my wonderful husband and our two adorable boys. I provide in-person services in Langley, Surrey, and White Rock. Telehealth services are offered across British Columbia. Please feel free to contact me for further information on how I may support your family.
